About Damon Williams: Damon Williams, an actor, rapper, poet, comedian, teacher, public speaker and activist hailing from the south side of Chicago, is the Co-Host of AirGo. He is also a regular contributor for Urban Broadcast Media’s The Damon Williams Show, hosted by his father and veteran standup comedian Damon Williams. He is a member of hip hop-poetica fusion group April Fools with his sister, the acclaimed poet and playwright Kristiana Colón. The duo has performed at venues throughout the Chicagoland area and was featured on the cover of the Redeye in the summer of 2014 for the reading of their new hip hop stage show “Lack on Lack,” held at Victory Gardens. In addition to April Fools, the siblings have paired together to form the #LetUsBreathe artistic activist collective, in response to the death of Mike Brown and protests in Ferguson, and have become prominent figures in the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Williams started acting at a young age in many commercials and movies, including an ad for the Jordan Brand starring and directed by Spike Lee, and the feature length film RollBounce. He attended Grinnell College, where he found his voice as a performer of spoken word poetry and as the creator and co-host of KDIC 88.5’s weekly hip-hop radio show The BoomBox, which was accompanied by an online talk show of the same name. He graduated in 2014 with degrees in Economics and Sociology. Williams has led community outreach and seminars aimed at youth for over ten years, encouraging financial literacy and combating growing economic inequality in urban America.
